The game is the entry sport to softball for young players, generally six years old and younger. Members of two teams take turns hitting a ball off a batting tee set on home plate. Batters try to get on base and advance to home; fielders try to prevent that from happening. The elimination of pitching allows children to participate without the fear of being hit by a pitched ball. However when children do progress to a level of ability to hit a pitched ball by the coach, the coach will use his discretion to utilize a "soft toss" to advance the girls skill. Tee ball develops the primary softball skills of hitting, running, fielding and throwing. The players gain an understanding of the fundamental rules, which allows minimally competitive league play at all age levels.
As the game is one of the first team sports for most children, there is a high level of adult support and enthusiasm. Tee ball has proven to be a natural transition into standard softball. As such, it provides a steady supply of young players already equipped with the basic skills and an enthusiasm for these sports.
What is most unique about MSA T-Ball Softball is that it is only girls!! Girls play with the girls and then move on to the upper age groups of softball. Practices only are held during the week and games are played on the weekends.
If you are interested in your daughters playing T-ball with girls only in Matthews, MSA is the only place to play!!!
