Volunteer of the Year Award

2010:  Heath Nestor

Those of you that know Heath, know his love of the game and willingness to give to MSA.  Heath and his company took on the project of regrading our home field at Matthews Elementary School.  Heath supplied material and manpower in order to provide better drainage to our field and thus giving our girls a better place to play.  Heath has now moved on, but will always have a piece of MSA with him.

2009:

The 2009 Volunteer of the Year award is presented to Tina and Pat Hannan. Tina and Pat have been with MSA since the inception. Behind the scenes they have volunteered many hours to make MSA the place to play. They are a true team that work together and separate to make sure the girls and families have fun. Tina has almost single handedly organized opening day for the past three years and with the help of others pulled off a nearly flawless event. Pat has prepared bar-b-cue the night before each opening day staying up all night to make sure the pig is just right for opening day. He and Greg Gaunt stay in a mobile trailer preparing for opening day which also adds a since of security for the field. Tina and Pat have been involved for many years and this year we reward them with the volunteer of the year award. Thank you to Tina and Pat for their dedication.

2008:
The 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award is Jim Cook. Jim Cook has coached in our league and has been instrumental every step of the way in providing his leadership to improve all areas of MSA. This year Jim and his family did not participate in softball yet Jim was always willing to lend a hand either with time, knowledge or equipment to make MSA a great place to play. Jim Cook is honored not only was he has done but what he continues to do for MSA in the absence of his daughter playing ball. Jim will always be considered a member of the MSA family and his volunteer efforts were amazing.

2007:
The 2007 Volunteer of the Year Award is Ben Keziah.  Ben has been a tremendous contributor to our program in so many ways.  Financial sponsorship, coaching, working on fields, restoring our dugouts with new fence and concrete floors, repairing the vandalized fence at PHS, hanging nets, applying fence topping, building opening day festivity rides, soliciting donated lights and poles, being the point man on the Matthews Elementary Lighting project, point man on the Matthews Elementary water project, being at every work day, helping with assessments, collection of equipment, you name it, Ben has done it.  He leads our girls by example.  He exemplifies a role model of hard work and giving it your best.

There are probably many things Ben has done that have been left off this list but for all of them, all of those on the list, and for the passion he brings to our organization and conveys to our girls, Ben Keziah is our 2007 Volunteer of the Year!
